Library

The British Club Library, which is probably the best stocked English language library in Bahrain, currently holds about 14,000 books consisting of fiction, crime , science fiction, biographies, self-help, cooking, history, religion as well as travel guides and travel writings. A selection of DVDs is also available.

In addition, there is an extensive children’s selection from picture books and early readers to young adults, both fiction and non-fiction books.

Although we rely mostly on donations, we consider buying new titles on occasion. Members’ requests for specific books are welcomed and, if possible, we will add these to our list for new purchases. The library has a corner with comfortable seating for those who want peace and quiet.

The library currently has a membership of 400 with this number increasing month by month.  The borrowing period is one month with an extended period if needed. Recently, the library system has been updated to ensure members have a better information service.
For the members’ convenience a new service has been implemented: members wishing to drop books off when the library is closed can now use a “drop-off” slot in the door of the library. This eliminates the need for waiting for the library to be open just to return books.

Book sales are held regularly with prices at an unbelievable 200 fils per book. Unsold books are donated to charities in Bahrain.

The library is open daily from 1.00pm until 7.00pm, apart from Wednesday  9.30am until 3.30pm and Friday 10.00am until 3.00pm.

Please note the Library is open to British Club members only.
